CNN has reported on a massive amount of illegal migrants agglomerating at the port of entrey in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. As of Monday, it is estimated that there are at least 5,000 people gathered there.

Reminiscient of previous migrant caravans, which eventually swelled to tens of thousands of people in some cases,
It is further believed that this new crowd is agglomerating at the US border due to hopes that the Title 42 provisions currently in place will be lifted as scheduled on May 23. They are expecting a greater chance of being able to get legal permission to stay and work in US territory due to the Biden administration's policy changes.

Title 42 was enacted at the beginning of the world COVID crisis by the Trump administration, and it allows for summary deportation of migrants who have crossed illegally due to the ongoing public health crisis.

While the clause is set to expire, as mentioned above, there is a possibility that it may be legally blocked at the judicial level by the time the May 23 deadline comes around, as there is currently a restraining order in place temporary preventing Title 42 from sunsetting.
