President Trump Monday signed an executive order revoking the security clearances of 50 former U.S. officials, including former heads of the Central Intelligence Agency John Brennan and Michael Morell and his own former national security advisor, John Bolton. The move targets the signatories of a letter sent during the 2020 presidential campaign stating that emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop appeared likely to be part of a Russian election influence operation, an episode that for years prompted sharp criticism from Trump and congressional Republicans who alleged it was evidence intelligence officials were seeking to help Joe Biden’s election.
