The Washington Post editorial board penned a hypothetical speech for President Joe Biden if he were to announce in an Independence Day address that he was dropping out of the presidential race.

The article from the left-leaning outlet comes as Biden has faced increasing pressures from Democrats to drop out of the race for president.

"What if Biden spoke these words?" was released by the outlet on July 3 ahead of the July 4 holiday.

The Washington Post’s editorial board wrote that Biden could compare himself to George Washington, with one line from the hypothetical speech reading, "I have decided to withdraw from the campaign for president of the United States."
