The Supreme Court has confirmed in a statement that the leaked draft document that would overturn Roe v Wade is real.

The ruling was not meant to be released until summer 2022, and the leak may speed up the timeline.

An investigation has been launched by Chief Justice John Roberts.

The statement from the Court reads: "Yesterday, a news organization published a copy of a draft opinion in a pending case." The news was first reported by Politico.

"Justices circulate draft opinions internally as a routine and essential part of the Court's confidential deliberative work. Although the document described in yesterday's reports is authentic, it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.
