After Attorney General Merrick Garland and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona came for American parents, a new "ParentGate" campaign is coming for them courtesy of the Constitutional Rights PAC. The Wednesday announcement said that the initiative would demand the impeachment of the two men, who are alleged to have conspired with the National School Boards Association to go after parents who speak up in opposition to critical race theory, face masks, and gender ideology at school board meetings.
The charge against the Biden appointees is that they are seeking to deny parents of their rights to free speech enshrined in the First Amendment.
Founding Member of the ParentGate Coalition David Dudenhoefer said that "There has never in the history of our country been such a blatant attempt by cabinet-level members of an administration to target innocent Americans, label them as 'domestic terrorists,' persecute and prosecute them, and deprive them of their constitutional rights as we have seen in the malevolently orchestrated Garland-Cardona-NSBA ParentGate conspiracy."
The goal of the ParentGate initiative is to bring pressure to bear on federal legislators to bring impeachment proceedings against the progressive appointees. For Larry Ward, Chairman of the Constitutional Rights PAC, it is Garland and Cardona who are particularly complicit in coming after parents, both before and after the notorious NSBA letter.
"Mr. Garland and Mr. Cardona are clearly guilty of conspiring with the National School Board Association to deny parents nationwide of the First Amendment rights to freedom of speech," Ward said. "And then lying about it after the fact. The one million members of the Constitutional Rights PAC will not rest until both Cardona and Garland are duly impeached and removed from office."
It was on Sept. 29 that a letter was sent from the National School Boards Association to the Biden administration suggesting that the Patriot Act be enforced against unruly parents who bring their concerns to school board meetings.
"America's public schools and its education leaders are under immediate threat," the letter begins. As such, it goes on, the National School Boards Association "respectfully asks for federal law enforcement and other assistance to deal with the growing number of threats and violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation."
"As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes," the letter went on to say. "As such, NSBA requests a joint expedited review by the U.S. Departments of Justice, Education, and Homeland Security, along with the appropriate training, coordination, investigations, and enforcement mechanisms from the FBI, including any technical assistance necessary from, and state and local coordination with, its National Security Branch and Counterterrorism Division, as well as any other federal agency with relevant jurisdictional authority and oversight."
When asked about the letter, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said that "there are going to be different law enforcement authorities that will be related to each community, and where this is happening, so we'd certainly refer you to them about any specific threats. And we'd encourage individuals to report any threats they face to local and state law enforcement agencies, and we're continuing to explore what more can be done from across the administration. A lot of this will be local law enforcement and how they can help ensure that these local school board members feel protected."
Imagine the shock and surprise when it turned out that this letter had been actually requested by Eduction Secretary Miguel Cardona. In an email sent on Oct. 5, NSBA Secretary-Treasurer Kristi Swett wrote that NSBA interim CEO Chip Slaven "told the officers he was writing a letter to provide information to the White House, from a request by Secretary Cardona."
In response to the letter, addressed to Garland and Cardona, Garland issued a memo that said he would be "directing the Federal Bureau of Investigation, working with each United States Attorney, to convene meetings with federal, state, local, Tribal and territorial leaders in each federal judicial district within 30 days of the issuance of this memorandum. These meetings will facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff, and will open dedicated lines of communication for threat reporting, assessment, and response."
For the Constitutional Rights PAC, Garland and Cardona committed a "high crime," one that is impeachable. Ward said it could actually be more "reprehensible and felonious because he used the powers of his office to sic the FBI on innocent parents nationwide."
In congressional hearings on the matter, Senator Josh Hawley called on Garland to resign. "General Garland, you have weaponized the FBI and the Department of Justice," Hawley said.
Senator Tom Cotton did the same, saying: "This is shameful. This testimony, your directive, your performance is shameful. Thank God you are not on the Supreme Court. You should resign in disgrace, Judge."
Senator Ted Cruz wanted to know why the DOJ "cater[ed] to the wishes of partisan activists who want to teach critical race theory in schools and who think parents are domestic terrorists."
House Judiciary Committee members demanded that Garland retract his memo instructing the FBI to investigate parents, and the National School Boards Association apologized for that letter after numerous school boards across the country said the organization did not speak on their behalf.
There is a Constitutional provision for impeaching civil officers under Article II, Section 4, when it states that "The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors." This led to the impeachment of Secretary of War William Belknap in 1876.
When asked why the Biden administration has taken such a hard line against parents, Ward told The Post Millennial that he thinks the "the administration sees political opponents as terrorists. I think that that's how they view us. Dan Bongino often often says we think the other side has bad ideas. They think we're bad people. I think that is how they feel about us."
"I think that's truly how they feel: we're enemies because we're non compliant. And they want to chill opposition. Everything that this administration has done, done since January 6 has been to chill opposition."
