Former first lady Melania Trump in a memoir due out Tuesday expresses her support for a woman's personal right to either have a child or an abortion – a top issue for voters in the Nov. 5 presidential election in which husband Donald Trump is seeking reelection as the GOP nominee.
“It is imperative to guarantee that women have autonomy in deciding their preference of having children, based on their own convictions, free from any intervention or pressure from the government,” she write in her upcoming book, according to the Guardian, which obtained a pre-release copy.
In 2022, the Supreme Court, with conservative justices appointed by Trump, ended federal law on abortions, handing the issue back to the states to individually make their own such laws.
