Iran plotted to kill Trump, according to Israeli intelligence

Iran hatched a new plan to assassinate Donald Trump, Israel warned Washington.

Israeli officials recently shared intelligence which they said contained evidence of the plot to kill the US president, adding to escalating tensions between the US and Iran.

According to a source familiar with the matter, the warning of a specific plot against Mr Trump came this week. It followed a steady drumbeat of intelligence about possible assassination plans.

However, other US officials said the report may be an effort by Israel to sway the US president’s decision making amid the renewed fighting against Iran.
