Trump's lawyers ask appeals court to block release of Jan. 6 records to House committee

Former President Donald Trump's lawyers requested on Thursday that a federal appeals court temporarily block the National Archives from releasing White House records to the House's Jan. 6 committee conducting a probe of the riot at the U.S. Capitol.

President Biden has advocated from the National Archives to turn over the documents while former President Trump has claimed "executive privilege."

The Jan. 6 House committee is expected to receive some White House records on Friday.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan ruled against Trump on Tuesday.
