President Donald Trump is planning on issuing a presidential pardon to former US National Security Advisor and US Army lieutenant general Michael Flynn, according to reporting from Axios on Tuesday night.

Axios sources two officials within the White House who state that Flynn will be pardoned within the coming months. President Trump is contesting the final outcome of the 2020 presidential election in court.

Flynn was ensnared in an FBI plot to criminalize diplomacy he conducted as incoming National Security Director in 2016 and 2017. He was ultimately charged with process crimes for allegedly lying to the FBI in interrogations about his duties. The DOJ recently withdrew the criminal case against the retired general, citing the considerable evidence of FBI corruption, unlawful surveillance, and partisan bias in the case.
