After years of secrecy, thousands of federal documents are expected to be released today as part of the JFK Assassination Records Collection Act. When the documents are released, anyone will be able to pore through them on their own computer.

The National Archives said this afternoon there is no updated timeframe for the release.

The release is expected to answer some questions about the Nov. 22, 1963, assassination, but is likely to add fuel to dozens of conspiracy theories.
When the time comes, here's how to access the documents.

First, log on to the National Archives JFK Assassination Records page.
The National Archives is the custodian of the records, and it has scanned them for public consumption. Click here for the main site. In July, a large trove of documents was made public, crashing the Archives site. Officials say they've strengthened the site for the expected increase in interest today, but be prepared for slow load times and a possible interruption of service.

On the '2017 Release' page, scroll to the October 2017 files.
Although many documents were released in July, the final documents must be released today, according to federal law. You'll have to scroll past those July releases (or download them if you haven't already) to get to the new stuff.
